Take the Scenic Route

Image
Usually when J and I walk to the grocery store, we always take the path along the roads, but there's actually another path that follows along the canal in the same direction which is the same distance.  There's joggers, bikes, and strollers on this path often, so we don't take that path when we have our grocery trolley. But today, I only had one bag with me and decided to take the scenic route. And it paid off!

Planning Our Next Great Adventure

Today we planned a trip to Rome.  Pedro had said he wanted to take me to Italy this summer, but I wasn't sure we'd be able to plan everything so fast.  I would randomly search flights and tours, not sure how or when we'd travel, but this morning it hit me. I'm not sure how long I was awake, but when Pedro woke up, I had it all figured out. It went something like this:

Power Fail

I have told most of my fellow Floridians that it is super windy here. Like the type of wind that would cancel school back home, yet the Scottish take it in stride. Luckily, unlike Florida, the powerlines here are mostly underground, so we never lose power during the storms.  This weekend, however, when Pedro went to turn on the lights, it tripped the breaker.  It was late, so we were in total darkness too. All the sockets in the house were still working, but none of the light switches. We go downstairs, where our breaker is kept in a cabinet under a table by the front door, to see the damage. We thought it'd be a simple flip of the switch, and we'd be back to light. Silly Americans!
