Peak Times
Pedro and I are going back to Edinburgh! I have been wanting to see an art exhibit since The States, and then I finally saw an ad for it in Scotland. We're going to make a day of it again. Once last adventure before he goes off to his first EMS. His EMS (extra-mural studies) starts on Monday, so he'll be leaving on Sunday to stay on a farm for two weeks to help out with spring lambing. This is only two out of twelve weeks that he'll have to complete.
We learned something important when planning both of these trips. We usually take the ScotRail for any far places, so Pedro was told the nearest platform from the farm, we went to book his travel. We looked up the train times for the farm station, and it was very limited. It seems so remote that there were only two trains a day from the city. We were shocked that the tickets were expensive, twice as much as the farthest place we traveled, but the farm was only just south of Glasgow. We couldn't figure out why until we were buying the tickets to Edinburgh. We were going to go today to give Pedro time to rest before his next trip but the tickets were twice as expensive. We thought, is it last minute pricing, or time of day? So we messed around with different times and days and that's when we learned just how much peak times impact ticket prices. Basically, any tickets during business hours will be double. So it was down to 7pm to 7am during the week or the weekend. Saturday it is! Pedro can't help that his return from the farm is during a peak time, but at least our journey to Edinburgh will be half price.
We'll go to the art exhibit at Edinburgh in the morning and have the rest of the day to explore the places we missed last time.
