Wrong ID...Again
I knew this would happen... Pedro went to pick up my BRP today. Can you guess? It was the same BRP he identified as the wrong one when he picked his up. The school couldn't do anything, couldn't even report that it was the wrong one because they are only the destination location for pick up. The card came in an envelope with instructions on its use, storage, and what to do if there is a problem with it. So I went to the website to report the issue and it was the same UKVI people I had to hound for my replacement visa. Ugh. I went through an automated system to report the issue (just my working rights, thank goodness nothing else) and they had a tiny text box to explain everything. Man, I packed that thing. I tried to explain everything, how they messed up, twice! Once I submitted the form, the confirmation email came in. Surprise, surprise -"We are currently experiencing very high volumes of requests. It is taking significantly longer than usual to resolve requests and it may take up to 20 working days."
Sure, 'up to 20 working days'. I know, I'm sour, but their 15 working days didn't exactly pan out, so I don't expect this issue to resolve any sooner. They also stated not to 'chase for updates' as that can take up more time. So I cannot leave the country or get a job until I get the correct BRP.
Plus side, I'm COVID negative.
Also, Pedro and I are slowly filling our new home. It's quite cute.
Today was also one of our bin collection days. I'm still getting used to the different bins here. I ended up making a sign on a piece of cardboard, listing all the items that can and cannot go in each colored bin. There's four different colors. In America, I had three at most if the place where I lived even did recycling. Each bin also has a different collection time. Some are every two weeks, three, or even six! I couldn't believe the regular garbage was only collected every 3 weeks. I had to download the calendar to make sure. In America it was once a week, sometimes twice. But in our old apartments, we shared multiple dumpsters, so we didn't have to worry about filling up our own bin. The collectors won't touch anything that isn't in the bin with the lid securely closed. It's an adjustment, but we'll get there. We only have a lot of trash now since we have to fill up the place, all the packaging and boxes are taking up space. Cardboard mountain will be demolished... eventually.
