I promise I live here
I'm freeeee! I got my BRP! No more house arrest waiting on the courier!
My official UK Biometric Permanent Residence card...so of course I went straight to the bank to see if I could use the government letter it came with as proof of address to set up an account. Nope! Ah well, I tried. The bank teller said I'd need a bill, a letter from the GP (doctor), or a lease. Well the electric, phone, and all other bills wouldn't allow my name without a bank account. And I can't register for the GP without proof of address either. So it's up to our landlord!
Plus side, I can start looking for work. My corrected BRP is proof of my ability to work in the UK. It states "Restricted Work - No sportsperson". I've looked that up, and it just means I can't be any kind of athlete, coach, or sports agent. Whew! Dodged a bullet there, I am not athletic.
Even better plus side, our trips can now be out of country if we'd like. The BRP is what allows us to leave and re-enter the country. We've discussed the Scottish Highlands, but also London or Italy once I could travel. Our ten-year anniversary (relationship, not wedding) is a good enough reason for a bigger trip...Can't wait to plan the next adventure!
