Separate Adventures - Day 7

WE HAVE A HOME!  Pedro did it! It all happened so fast today, and it worked in our favor.

Every morning, he has gone to the same café to eat breakfast.   He has chatted with the owner and the same group of people every morning.  Today, Pedro told them he was still struggling with our apartment hunt.  The owner offered to sit with him later on and check out the local websites for places to live. So kind!  Pedro and I never heard of this site, so he finished chatting and went back to the hotel to explore it. He found an unfurnished 1 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment in Anniesland, for £300 less than others we were looking at away in the city.  It has a big kitchen, which is a rare find, as well as a washing machine, a dryer, and a full shower and tub. Did I mention that Anniesland is THE place to be for vet students?? It's right next to school, no car, subway, bus, or train necessary.  A 5 minute walk for Pedro.  This property was listed 4 days ago, and normally that would mean it's already gone but he decided to call anyway (thank goodness!!).

Pedro told the landlord we really need a place and we can pay the deposit and a year in advance. The landlord was about to give it to someone else, but said Pedro paying up front would be even better. The landlord said he could meet him immediately at the apartment to view it. So he hustled to the apartment, and everything looked great.  It's electric instead of gas heating, but the landlord said the place isn't too big and the ceilings are low enough that it won't kill our budget. Even the council tax is a lot lower than the other places we were looking at.

He also said if we want it, it's ours. Sold!

So, Pedro paid the deposit (got a receipt), and we can sign the lease tomorrow and get the keys.  An address will solve a lot! We can finally get bank accounts, register with the school, set everything up...I can go straight from the airport to our new home.  (Whenever I get my visa that is)

My first breakfast must be at that café.
