Separate Adventures - Day 12
Last night I decided to create a new email chain to the UK Visa & Immigration, asking about my visa progress. My google searches have not been productive since my situation seems unique. I don't know which standard processing time I fall into, if any. So I wrote an email, explained the whole situation, ultimately asking if my visa is still processing and if there are any delays. I copied this email to R, asking her thoughts. I was going for a respectful yet urgent in expressing my concern. We agreed it was clear. The reply I got was not.
P: £80! And that's British Publix!
"Your visa is being processed and we have escalated it to the UK and VFS."
Not helpful at all. I have another weekend ahead with no movement.
Pedro got a lot of deliveries today and set up stuff in the apartment. The flat is looking a bit more full! I asked Pedro to keep the boxes for some DIY projects I'd love to use them for, shoe racks, pin boards, etc.
Then he vacuumed the whole apartment and came to the conclusion that it had not been vacuumed in a while. It may be that the windows are open all the time too. Something we'll have to get used to with no A/C. And for anyone who grew up in a tropical climate like me, hold back the gasp. It's strange for me too, even if it's not hot, it is odd to not have air flowing through the house. Hence, the windows. But with that, there are bugs too. Unlike in the Florida as well, there are no screens on the windows; they just open out. So we bought some magnetic screens to install on the inside of the windows. We can open the screen whenever we need to open or close the window, and not worry about the bugs getting in or the screen falling off.
But Pedro's favorite part of the day was grocery shopping at Morrison's. Since he now has kitchen utensils for cooking, he can prepare home cooked meals. Only downside was he forgot to ride his bike to the store. His thinking was that the grocery store was so close, he could just walk. Walking back however, was killer on his arms, wishing he could have walked the groceries back hanging on the bike. When he got home after a few breaks, he sent me this picture and asked me to guess the price.
We must be adults now, to be so excited over groceries.
He also sent me his first cooked meal of the flat.
